The 24-year-old San Sebastian-native has had very limited playing time this season, due to Zidane preferring to play Dani Carvajal. So far, Odriozola has only played 4 games in La Liga and one in the Champions League. Linked with Spanish clubs such as Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla, Odriozola has decided to move to a non-Spanish club for the first time in his career.
Due to the revision in rules, Odriozola will not be ‘cup-tied’ and is eligible to play for Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Bayern has been linked with many right-backs this winter transfer window, including Achraf Hakimi, Nelson Semedo, Thomas Meunier and even Bayern-faithful Rafinha.
The board wants to buy another right-back to compete with Benjamin Pavard, which means Joshua Kimmich will be pushed further up the field.
