Big news — according to Florian Plettenberg of Sport1 (and confirmed by Bild), Manchester City winger Leroy Sane has fired his agent. The 23-year-old, who was previously represented by David Beckham’s agency, has reportedly switched to LIAN Sports. The agency also represents Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng.

We have no idea what this means for his impending transfer to Munich.

According to Sport1, despite the rumored move to Germany, Sane’s future is still unclear. Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has been informed of the agency change, and he is reportedly still working on the transfer. However, the change of agent could be a bad sign for the Bavarians. The Athletic previously reported that Sane’s teammates expected him to leave in the summer, and most assumed that he would go to Bayern — but now the switch doesn’t seem as certain.

Sane was supposed to be Bayern’s big new signing of the summer, and the long-awaited heir to Franck Ribery. If the Bavarians are unable to secure him after pursuing him for almost a full year, then things could get very ugly at the Sabener Strasse.

We’ll keep you updated as this story progresses.

Update

According to Bild, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has already contacted Fali Ramdani. In terms of Sane’s desire to move to Bayern, nothing has changed. In fact, this new agency is known for moving players away from their clubs, which is the same reason Boateng also hired them.

So, that’s good news then?
