FC Bayern wants to loan Nicolas Kühn from Ajax (Sport1)

Bayern Munich has set it sights on a very talented young German player who currently plays for Ajax Amsterdam II. Nicolas Kühn has the distinction of winning the 2019 Fritz-Walter Gold Medal as the best U19 player in Germany. For context, Kai Havertz was the winner in 2018.

Kühn is 20 years old and came to Ajax in 2018 from RB Leipzig. Bayern wants to take him on loan until the summer. Kühn wants to gain experience playing against professional competition in the 3.Liga with Bayern II. His contract at Ajax expires in 2021, so he could position himself for a new contract should he rise to the occasion.

By coincidence, Bayern II coach Sebastian Hoeness trained Kühn at RB Leipzig.

Manuel Neuer impressed by Alphonso Davies (Bundesliga.com)

Manuel Neuer told the media how impressed he is by Alphonso Davies. Before leaving Bayern’s training camp in Qatar, he said,

Phonzie’s having a great season at left-back. He offers ability, as well as aggression in attack. That’s important for our game. It enables us to be more solid in the middle. Nothing phases him, and he plays with great freedom. I hope it continues.

According to Neuer, Davies has not only flourished on the pitch, but has integrated with his Bayern family off it, as well:

He was already playing well in the States, but he’s integrated himself into the team really well. He’s a very positive guy who approaches the other players. It’s been easy to get to know him, but he hasn’t just impressed me.

Bayern extends trio of U19 players (FCBayern.com)

Bayern extended the contracts of three promising youth players on Martin Demichelis’ U19: defender Jamie Lawrence (17) midfielder Moritz Mosandl (17), and left-back David Herold (16) have all signed extensions through the end of June 2022.

FC Bayern Campus director Jochen Sauer said,

Jamie, Moritz, and David are three very talented youth players. We are convinced in their potential to develop and are happy that they want to take the next steps together with FC Bayern.

Mosandl and Herold are in their fourth season with Bayern, Lawrence in his third.

Niko Kovac snow-soccer world champ with Global United (Bild)

In his first public appearance since leaving Bayern Munich, Niko Kovac and his brother Robert enjoyed soccer success with Fredi Bobic’s Global United FC All Stars, a team of former professional players that works to raise awareness of sustainability and the fight against climate change.

Playing alongside Zé Roberto, Mladen Petric, and Fernando Morientes, the Kovacs beat Holland 4-2 in Arosa Switzerland. Kovac said afterward, “Fredi Bobic had told me about it. A great tournament with a fantastic backdrop. We will come back.”

Former Düsseldorf coach and co-organizer Lutz Pfannenstiel has been coming for ten years. He told Bild, “It’s like a class reunion. Our team Global United is engaged for sustainability and all ex-pros are up for something like that.”
