Luis Suarez to miss four months following knee surgery
Barcelona have announced that star striker Luis Suarez will be out for four months following a knee surgery on his meniscus. This is potentially devastating news for Barca ahead of a busy second half of the season.
Suarez has scored 14 goals so far this season in all competitions, and he leads La Liga with 7 assists. Obviously, Barcelona’s billions of euros invested in the squad means it is so deep they can throw another big-time player in his spot, but losing Suarez for this significant period of time could spell doom to their chances in the Champions League or the La Liga title race... or both.

Giulia Gwinn named Germany’s Player of the Year
It was an all-youngster affair as Bayern Munich’s 20-year-old Giulia Gwinn, Freiburg’s 19-year-old Klara Bühl, and Essen’s 18-year-old Lena Oberdorf were the final three for Germany Women’s Player of the Year award. Gwinn cruised to the award winning 50.9% of the vote while Bühl finished with 10.1% and Oberdorf received 6.6% of the vote.
Congrats to Giulia!
