For this coming Champions League season we’ve come up with a great idea to help bring this awesome community together for some fun banter and all out bragging rights: UEFA Champions League Fantasy Football.

The objective is simple: You have until September 17th to create your team. You have a budget of €100m to create a 15-man squad to compete against writers at BFW such as myself and your fellow readers. Pack mas!

To give you a starting point, here are some hints/rules:

  1. Check matchups. They play a good role in helping you decide who to pick.
  2. Think offense. Defensive backs that tend to assist have a tendency to earn more points. Also, think about defenders who play for stout defensive teams as you get bonus points for maintaining clean sheets.
  3. You need balance: its nice to have Salah, Lewandowski, Messi, and Sterling leading your attack, but you need to think about the quality of your entire Starting XI. If your best defender gives up 2-3 goals a game on a regular basis, you’ll end up losing points.
  4. Be smart about transfers! Keep your eye out for player injuries and squad news.

The rest of the rules and scoring procedures can be found here.

Lets have fun and keep the banter and team names appropriate!
