Recently, Niklas Süle and Lucas Hernandez talked to Bild and Süle described his excitement at having club-record signing Hernandez playing alongside him in the heart of the back-line. Outlining his admiration for the 2018 World Cup winner, he said:
I think we compliment each other very well on and off the pitch. He’s a really great guy, an aggressive player, whose physicality does us good. It’s worked well up to now. I hope it continues that way.
It seems that Hernandez’ first days at the club are going well since he’s had good performances in competitive games. Hernandez has settled into Bayern Munich nicely and feels happy at the club. The versatile defender had this to say about his integration at the Rekordmeister:
I feel very well received — by the whole club. I’ve started to learn German now.
During the short period Hernandez has been around, he’s struck up a friendship with Javi Martinez which has no doubt helped his transfer process:
I have a very close connection to Javi. We’re very similar in many ways.
BFW Analysis
Although we’ve only seen Hernandez play a few times, he already looks a shrewd purchase albeit the costly fee. Hernandez compliments Süle perfectly with his pace, physicality, tackling skills, anticipation and passing ability. If both these commanding presences are able to reach top form, many would call them the best partnership around such is their potential quality together.
By all accounts, Lucas has settled in nicely to his new surroundings which is always a great sign for new transfers. He’s already become a fan-favorite for many Bayern supporters across the globe (including myself) and long may that continue.
