Training update: It’s a ghost town at Säbener Strasse

With many members of the roster reporting to their respective countries for the international break, Bayern Munich had a small group show up for training this morning.

With many of its stars away on international duty, Bayern Munich had a small group of players arrive at Säbener Strasse for training. Highlighting the attendees were center-back Jerome Boateng (who might have needed a distraction), forward Fiete Arp, and midfielder Michaël Cuisance.

Bild tweeted a long-distance shot of the trio training this morning:

Each player has a unique challenge in trying to break into the lineup for Bayern Munich. For Boateng, the 31-year-old finds himself likely ranked as the fourth-choice center-back on the depth chart behind Niklas Süle, Lucas Hernandez, and Benjamin Pavard.

As for Arp, the youngster will not be supplanting Robert Lewandowski as the team’s striker of choice any time soon and his pathway to playing time at wing is not much easier considering Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, Ivan Perisic, Thomas Müller, and even Philippe Coutinho could be selected ahead of him in the rotation.

Cuisance, meanwhile, faces the daunting task of battling for field time with Leon Goretzka, Thiago Alcantara, Javi Martinez, Corentin Tolisso, Joshua Kimmich, Müller, and Coutinho in the central midfield.

Clearly, any extra work the trio can’t hurt as each player faces an uphill battle for playing time.
