As expected, Bayern Munich hammered bottom of the table Duisburg 4-0 on Sunday to maintain their third position in the Frauen Bundesliga table, three points behind leaders Wolfsburg.
Jens Scheuer made a host of changes from the midweek’s Champions League lineup with Carina Schlüter, Nicole Rolser, Melanie Leupolz, Lineth Beerensteyn all moving into the starting eleven. Plus, Kristin Kögel from Bayern Frauen II got her Bundesliga debut in the starting lineup.
Lina Magull opened the scoring for Bayern in the 41st minute with a spectacular free kick into the top corner that left the Duisburg goalkeeper with no chance at the save. Magull added her second in the 60th minute, when her lofted cross into the penalty area fooled everyone and ended in the back of the net.
Jovana Damnjanovic came on for Beerensteyn shortly after Magull’s second goal, and she added a goal of her own just a few minutes later finishing off a Bayern counter. Then, with only a few minutes remaining, Rolser added a goal to make Bayern’s 4-0 route complete.
Late in the match, Bayern II captain Anja Pfluger made her Bundesliga for the Bavarians as well.
