Bayern Munich II picked up a big 2-1 win over Ingolstadt on Sunday in the 3.Liga. Boosted by the play of Alphonso Davies and Michael Cuisance, Bayern II grabbed an important home victory in their quest to stay in the 3.Liga this season.
The hosts jumped out to a lead in the 15th minute thanks to the boot of Marcel Zylla. Cuisance played the ball wide out to Leon Dejaku in the buildup, who whipped in a cross to Otschi Wriedt. The big Ghanaian was unable to control the ball, but it ended up at the feet of Zylla who made no mistake with his finish.
However, Bayern’s lead would only last two minutes! Lars Lukas Mai went for a slide tackle to dispossess Stefan Kutschke, but the ball went right into the path of Dennis Eckert Ayensa who only had to tap the ball in for the equalizer.
Just before halftime, the match would turn completely in Bayern’s favor after Ingolstadt’s Peter Kurzweg was shown a straight red card for kicking Maximilian Welzmüller in the side following a scuffle for the ball.
Bayern would grab the winner in the 52nd minute thanks to Davies and Cuisance. The Canadian powered through the middle of the park with a dribble deep into Ingolstadt’s half. With the defense collapsing, Davies sent the ball to the edge of the penalty area to Cuisance. The young Frenchman curled the ball to the far post just out of the reach of Ingolstadt’s goalkeeper, where the ball went into the goal to give Bayern the three points.
The win puts Bayern 13th in the 3.Liga table on 11 points after 9 matches. At this point in the season, it’s a compressed table. Currently, they’re only two points out of the relegation zone; however, if they didn’t drop two points at the death last week against Sonnenhof Großaspach, they’d be up in 8th place.
