Bayern Munich center-back Niklas Süle was a striker during his youth days, so he might know a little about the pressure of having to produce from the center-forward spot. Luckily for Süle, he is on a team that does not have an issue with that.
Robert Lewandowski has been lethal so far this season with eight goals in six games across all competitions (including seven goals in four Bundesliga games) and Süle told Bundesliga.com that the Polish Hitman is poised for a huge season:
I’d love it if he can keep going as he is. He’s in great form and we need Lewy to be successful this season. I don’t want to give any numbers, but if he continues at this rate, scoring in every game, then you can work it out for yourself that he’ll get over 30 goals hopefully.
It is not just Lewandowski’s scoring has been impressive, though. The 31-year-old’s work-rate has been superb, especially against RB Leipzig:
Lewandowski covered 6.6 miles, made 30 sprints (only Benjamin Pavard made more), had five attempts on goal and won 11 tackles over the course of the 90 minutes.
Lewandowski will get another chance to showcase his prowess on Wednesday when Bayern Munich takes on Red Star Belgrade in Champions League action.
