Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has recently reported that Bayern Munich has asked for information regarding the 30-year-old left-winger Ivan Perisic. Considered reliable especially in his reporting on Italian teams, Romano states that Perisic is now on Bayern’s list of possible targets in light of Leroy Sané’s injury.

Yesterday it was reported that Antonio Conte is pushing Perisic out of the Inter squad, as he prefers Dalbert and Matteo Politano in his new system.
As fate would have it, Bayern head coach Niko Kovac suggested his countryman Perisic as an option for the left wing last July, although the front office declined to pursue him at the time (TZ). Perisic himself had nothing but praise for Kovac (Bild):
Niko Kovac influenced me very much. I played well for Croatia, when he was coach and we congratulated each other mutually for everything that we’ve accomplished in Germany. If he wants me, he knows where to find me.
The left-winger, who can also play on the right, has four years of previous Bundesliga experience. Perisic played his first Bundesliga game with Borussia Dortmund where he was part of Jürgen Klopp’s squad for a season and a half before moving on to VfL Wolfsburg. Arguably, Perisic has seen his best years while playing for Inter Milan. In his second and third season for the club, he managed to score 11 goals in one campaign, a feat he never managed in the Bundesliga.
Perisic was heavily linked to Manchester United after his successful World Cup 2018 campaign. Rumors were linking the Croatian to several Premier League teams this summer as well, but none that came into fruition.
BFW Analysis:
In terms of adding much-needed squad depth, Perisic could be a very good fit for Bayern. The Croatian is an experienced player who has played every competition there is in World football. His 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons for Inter were magnificent, as he scored a total of 22 goals and assisted 17. Last season, Perisic did not fare as well, managing to score 8 goals while assisting 3. This is not a bad season by any means; Perisic has performed well for Inter for all of his four seasons.
The fact that Perisic has Bundesliga experience is another plus. He was shipped out from Dortmund mainly on account of tough competition and conflict with Jürgen Klopp. His time at Wolfsburg was also relatively successful, where he scored 15 goals in his two full seasons at the club, during which time Wolfsburg managed to reach a 5th and 2nd place in the league.
Now that Bayern is in trouble in terms of squad depth and action must be taken after Leroy Sané’s unfortunate injury, I believe a loan deal for Perisic could be a smart move.
