The DFB have announced that Melanie Leupolz has pulled out of Germany’s upcoming camp for the upcoming Euro 2021 Qualifiers against Montenegro and Ukraine. She will be replaced by Freiburg’s Sandra Starke.

In addition to Montenegro and Ukraine, Germany’s Group I for Euro 2021 Qualifying consists of Greece and Republic of Ireland.

As mentioned in our match report of Bayern’s 3-0 win over FFC Frankfurt, Leupolz had her knee heavily taped in the second half of the match. It doesn’t appear to be too serious of an injury as she completed the match, so this sounds like a precautionary move.

When Bayern return from the international break, Bayern will travel to Eintracht Frankfurt for a Second Round DFB Pokal match before traveling to Goteberg for the first leg of their Round of 32 Champions League encounter.

Leupolz isn’t the only player out of the camp. Earlier this week, Hoffenheim’s Lena Lattwein pulled out of the upcoming camp with an ankle injury. She was replaced by Manchester City’s Pauline Bremer.
