Per Bild chief Christian Falk, Bayern Munich will not be pursuing a purchase of Espanyol defensive midfielder Marc Roca. The rumors of Bayern Munich’s interest in Roca spiked Friday when it was announced that the club was selling Renato Sanches to Lille.
Something, however, changed since yesterday when reports were swirling over a potential deal that would have brought Roca to Germany. If Bayern has truly opted out of its pursuit of Roca, it could leave the door open to Real Madrid to make a move.
Many Bayern Munich fans have been clamoring for Roca, given the team’s dearth of true defensive midfielders on the roster, but it does not appear like the move will happen per Falk:
the decision has been made. According to our Information: @fcbayern will not buy Marc Roca @SPORTBILD

Roca’s release clause of €40 million had many consider him a inexpensive investment for the future that would fit a role that Bayern might need. As it stands now, Thiago Alcantara and Javi Martinez would be considered the defensive midfielders on the Bayern roster.
