Following an illustrious career at Bayern Munich where the Frenchman established a club-record 24 titles, Frank Ribéry appears to be close to his next challenge — Serie A.

Frenchman and ex- Bayern Munich player (well, icon) Frank Ribéry is reportedly close to completing a move to FC Fiorentina in Serie A following a distinguished career at Bayern Munich. Ribery won a club record 24 trophies including the UEFA Champions League in 2013 and 9 Bundesliga over 273 games.

Multiple outlets, including Fabrizio Romano and Sport Bild’s Tobias Altschäffl, are now reporting that Ribery will sign for Fiorentina as soon as tomorrow:

Furthermore, according to a report from Bild, Ribéry will be offered a contract of approximately €4 million per year for 2 years.

Ribery thus will follow in the footsteps of Bayern’s erstwhile striker Mario Gomez, who also transferred to Fiorentina after four successful years in Bavaria. And Ribery will find himself sharing the locker room with another Boateng: FC Fiorentina recently signed Jérôme Boateng’s brother Kevin-Price Boateng following a quick stint at Barcelona. Both moves improve the quality of Fiorentina’s squad. Coach Vincenzo Montella hopes to lead Fiorentina back to European competition.

While it will be truly strange to see Ribéry playing for another team at all, all of us at BFW wish him the very best on his new adventure.
