Bayern Munich received two goals from Linda Dallmann on their way to a 3-1 victory against Freiburg to open their Frauen Bundesliga campaign.
The opening goal for Bayern came from the head of Jovana Damnjanovic. Giuli Gwinn lofted a cross to the far post in the 18th minute, and Damnjanovic beat the defender to the ball, pounding it in the back of the net. However, Freiburg battled back and got their equalizer in the twenty minutes later. Janina Minge found herself all alone on a free kick and headed the ball past Laura Benkarth in the Bayern net.
Dallmann scored both of her goals in the second half. The first came just after halftime on a picture-perfect pass from Lineth Beerensteyn. The ball put Dallmann in behind the backline, and she easily beat Merle Frohms for the goal. Her second just a few minutes later in the 55th minute after Frohms scuffed a punched on a cross. Dallmann recovered the loose ball and scored.
2019 Fritz Walter Medal winner Klara Buhl had an opportunity to pull one back for Freiburg late in the match, but Benkarth came up with a big save to keep Bayern on top.
Bayern XI: Benkarth – Ilestedt, Hendrich, Laudehr, Schweers – Gwinn, Leupolz, Dallmann (67. Skorvankova), Magull – Beerensteyn, Damnjanovic (72. Somin)
