According to a new report from Bild (print edition), Bayern’s front office (presumably Karl-Heinz Rummenigge & Uli Hoeneß) have categorically denied any previously reported interest in Juventus’s Mario Mandžukić.
Striker Mario Mandzukic (33/Juve) allegedly is going to return to Bayern. But: last weekend, Bayern’s front office told Bild: Mandzukic is out of the question!
This report from Bild contradicts previous reports which not only suggested that Mandžukić was interested in a return to Bavaria but was actually close to securing that move with Niko Kovač in his corner having an active role in attempting to secure his signature.
Mario Mandžukić's move to Bayern is close to being completed. Niko Kovač was a factor that convinced Mandžukić to make the move. Another factor is that Bayern only has one striker which would allow him more minutes with the side. [@cmdotcom] pic.twitter.com/Dpi7Zeh4Yh

Truthfully, this whole transfer has taken enough twists and curves over the past couple of days. But then again, the only player associated with Bayern this window that was not full of twists was Ivan Perišić (which was completed not only extremely quickly and efficiently, but was a steal at the price we got him for). Bayern are in need of more reinforcements for their squad, so as per usual it is a wait and see if Mandžukić is on his way to a reunion in Bavaria.
