Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac is happy to have new arrival Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, but acknowledged that his squad still needs further reinforcements. Per Abendzeitung, Kovac knows the team must be prepared in the event of injury:
The fact is that we still need something, we still have to grow. Ivan is first, but we also know that injury can happen, we need to be prepared for that and we need players to fill up the squad and do better.
Kovac is certain that Perisic’s arrival will bolster Bayern’s squad along the front-line:
He is one of the top three players in the national team, he is very strong on both legs, he’s aggressive in the start-up, a team player and has a great header, so I’m sure he’ll give us what we need.
Kovac did not go into detail about what else he thought Bayern Munich needed on its roster, but one could assume that he would like at least one other option at forward. Given some of Kovac’s previous thoughts on positional flexibility, the 47-year-old coach would probably like a player who can slot in at a wing position and also play as a striker when needed.
