After being announced as a Bayern Munich player earlier this week, Ivan Perisic completed his first full training session with the rest of the squad earlier today. Per a report by Bild, the Croatian received a very warm reception when he was seen emerging from the cabin alongside his teammates entering the Säbener Strasse pitch.
Additionally, it was encouraging to see how well Perisic was already commiserating with his teammates. He was seeing speaking and laughing with Thomas Muller, Jerome Boateng, and was only seen having extensive conversations with former Borussia Dortmund teammate Robert Lewandowski. The two played together at Dortmund for three years before Perisic left to join VfL Wolfsburg for two years.
After nearly an hour of practicing with the rest of the squad in some small sided scrimmages and shooting drills, Perisic worked alone with fitness coach Holger Broich to work on some sprinting and running drills before concluding the training session.

A brief wait for his competitive debut
While it was good to see Perisic in such high spirits with the squad for his first training session as a Bayern player, the midfielder will have to wait to make his competitive debut. He will not be in the match day squad for Bayern’s Bundesliga opener against Hertha Berlin due to a yellow card suspension that he received while still playing in Serie A with Inter Milan.
Perisic received his 5th yellow card of the season in Inter’s final match of the 2018-2019 season, which was a 2-1 win over Empoli. Even though he’s now switched to the Bundesliga, he still has to serve his Serie A suspension and won’t be available for selection until Bayern’s second match of the season, which is an away encounter with Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen.
