Bayern Frauen have announced the signing of Carolin Simon from Olympique Lyonnais on a three year contract. The 26 year old spent only one season in France but won the UEFA Women’s Champions League, Feminine Division 1, and Coupe de France Feminine in that campaign.

Lyon’s official twitter account revealed that the transfer fee was €50,000. Of known transfer fees paid this summer in the women’s game, this is the most expensive transfer, according to SoccerDonna.de. The other known expensive transfer is Lyon purchasing Alex Greenwood from Manchester United for €40,000.

Before joining Lyon, Simon spent two seasons with Freiburg under now-Bayern coach Jens Scheuer, so the transfer is a natural fit for her. “Bayern have a great team with a really good coaching staff. I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season, and I’m sure we can achieve a lot.”

Simon has been capped 20 times for the Germany national team, including appearances in four of the five matches Germany played at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
