Bayern Munich II won the first of two weekend friendlies. At the Red Bull Academy in Austria, they beat FC Liefering, Red Bull Salzburg’s feeder club, 2-1. Bayern’s goals came from Can Karatas and Kwasi Okyere Wriedt.
Karatas has now scored in both of FCB II’s friendlies to start the season. It’s a great start to camp for the winger, as he was one of the players promoted to FCB II from the U19 side. The match also featured the debut of Sarpreet Singh.
Head coach Sebastian Hoeness was pleased with the victory but acknowledged there’s more work to be done.
“We’re glad that we successfully completed the test. Overall, we’re satisfied with the test. But our highest priority was that we see things that we are practicing in training; that was also the case in phases. But we still have a lot of work to do.”
On Sunday, Bayern II will play SV Türkgücü-Ataspor München in their second friendly of the weekend.
Here is the lineup for the match:
Hoffmann; Rausch, Daniliuc, Mihaljevic (Poznanski 46), Kehl (Herold 46); Waidner (Stiller 46), Zaiser (Rhein 62), Karatas (Gunther 46); Nollenberg (Timossi Andersson 75), Wriedt, Singh (Halbich 62)
