Bayern Munich officially announced the arrival of two academy products from Chelsea at the FC Bayern Campus. Forward, Jamal Musisala, and central-defender, Bright Akwo Array-Mbi were both born in Germany and have both played for England and Germany at various youth-national team levels. (Note: according to Transfermarkt, it appears that Array-Mbi goes simply by Bright.)
Reports surfaced earlier this week of Musisala’s arrival, but the arrival of another young star is a nice surprise. Musisala was born in Stuttgart, Germany but grew up in Fulda, near Frankfurt. He has been with Chelsea’s academy for the last eight years. Bright was born and raised in Kaarst, near Düsseldorf. He transferred five years ago from Norwich City to Chelsea.
Bayern’s head of development, Jochen Sauer, had gave the following statement:
With Jamal and Bright, we have two hopeful talents for our development teams to win. We are convinced of their quality and their potential to develop and we believe that they will settle in well here at the campus.
Although, Bright is a month younger than Musisala, he is slated to play with the U19 team, while Musisala will join Miroslav Klose’s U17 team.
