Thanks for all of you patience as I was away. Big thanks to everyone here at Bavarian Football Works for the support and keeping the Daily Schmankerl going. They say it takes a village to help its lost idiot or something...I dunno. Anyway, let’s get after it:

Bayern getting closer to making an offer for Roca? (Football Espana)

Bayern Munich’s failure to land Atlético Madrid defensive-midfielder Rodrigo “Rodri” Hernandez has led the club to take a long look at Espanyol’s Marc Roca.

Bayern Munich are weighing up a move for Espanyol midfielder Marc Roca after Rodri joined Manchester City from Atletico Madrid. It was reported on Wednesday that City had triggered Rodri’s exit clause and AS cites reports from German publication kicker that say Bayern’s alternative option also plays in La Liga.

Roca is touted as the player identified as the Bavarians’ Coach, Niko Kovac, is keen to see his midfield bolstered this summer but if Roca did make the switch, he would be back-up to Thiago Alcantara, Javi Martinez, Joshua Kimmich and Corentin Tolisso. The 22-year-old’s release clause is set at €40m and that wouldn’t be a stumbling block for Bayern, though Roca has reportedly said he is not actively seeking a move away from the RCDE Stadium.

Rodri, of course, decided to join Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

The Dutch are through to the finals! (@FOXSoccer)

The Netherlands advanced to the Women’s World Cup final against the United States behind an extra time goal from Jackie Groenen (99’). The Dutch win thwarted any chance for the Smith-Iredahl Derby between the USWNT and Sweden.

Kimmich’s latest comments on Sane (@GERFootDaily)

Bayern Munich star and Germany international Joshua Kimmich is still keeping hope alive that his club can convince Manchester City’s Leroy Sane to make the move back home.

Hmmm, seems like I’ve seen this somewhere before.

Barca among suitors for Cancelo (Transfer Market Web)

Bayern Munich is not the only power club considering a move for Juventus outside back Joao Cancelo. FC Barcelona, Manchester City, and Manchester United are also in the mix.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Portuguese international right-back/winger Joao Cancelo (25), likely to leave Juventus after just one season, on an about 55 million euros fee, providing Bianconeri a significant cash gain, has been targeted by Barcelona FC. Former Inter Milan, Valencia and Benfica player is tracked hard by Bayern Munich and both Manchester giants as well.

Sport Bild, however, thinks that a deal between Bayern and Cancelo is “unlikely.”

As expected, Lampard name manager at Stamford Bridge (@FOXSoccer)

Is this Frank Lampard the man that can keep Callum Hudson-Odoi at Chelsea?

Bayern linked to Bonucci (Transfer Market Web)

This one seems far-fetched considering that Bayern has spent most of this offseason trying to get younger, so take it with a grain (or 20,000) of salt.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is furthering talks with Italian international centre-back Leonardo Bonucci (32). Juventus core-backliner, still on a deal with Bianconeri until June 2023, is tracked by PSG and Bayern Munich as well, and an about 50 million euros bid might do the trick.

Do you think Kawhi can also be a reserve winger? Asking for a friend named Brazzo.

Fahrmann could be sent off on loan (Sky Sports)

Schalke 04 goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann is reportedly taking a medical for Norwich City and could be sent off on a loan. This, of course, is interesting from a Bayern perspective because of the rumblings regarding a move by Schalke’s Alexander Nübel, who has reportedly been targeted by Bayern Munich.

Ralf Fahrmann is undergoing a medical with Norwich ahead of a season-long loan from Schalke, Sky Sports News understands. The 30-year-old German goalkeeper is close to joining the Canaries, who have been looking for a goalkeeper to provide competition for Tim Krul, who signed a new long-term deal following promotion to the Premier League.

The potential move by Fahrmann would likely make Nübel the uncontested number one goalkeeper on a team looking for a resurgence.
