Well then, the tables have now turned...again. Bild’s Christian Falk disputes claims that Dembélé has zero interest in Bayern Munich

The tables have turned once again for Bayern Munich. Less than 24 hours after reports from both Sky and kicker claimed that Ousmane Dembélé had zero interest in leaving Barcelona for Bayern, Christian Falk of SportBild has now refuted said reports by stating there is still, in fact, interest from both parties in bringing the French winger to Bayern.

It was originally reported last week that Dembélé was Bayern’s ‘plan B’ for Manchester City’s Leroy Sane. Per SportBild, Bayern are still interested in signing Dembélé, since the Sané links have cooled off. The report states that sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is still in contact with the French winger, his representatives, and Barcelona.

Bayern are also closely watching what happens with both Antoine Griezmaan and Neymar, who are both heavily linked with moves to Barcelona. Neymar has been vocal about his desire to return to the Catalans, and Griezmann has already announced that he will 100% be leaving Atletico Madrid this summer, more than likely for Barcelona. Paris Saint-Germain’s Thomas Tuchel is also said to be interested in bringing in Dembélé if Neymar were to go back to Barcelona. With the sale of the Brazilian, PSG would have an even greater budget (not that they need one) to acquire Dembélé, reuniting him with Tuchel. The two spent a season together at Borussia Dortmund before the Frenchman forced his way to Barcelona.

There is more, however, behind the scenes. In an additional piece published at Bild+, Falk further reports that Dembélé himself could see a place at Bayern, especially given that fact that he would see his playing time drop significantly if both Griezmann and Neymar join Barcelona. He also likes the “familial” atmosphere at Bayern:

Bild knows: Dembélé can also theoretically imagine a transfer to Bayern. He is impressed especially by the familial atmosphere so characteristic of the club. And Dembélé also likes how the club dealt with Ribéry in difficult situations.

Whether any of this hypothetical interest translates into a transfer still seems like a long shot.
