The summer transfer window in the Premier League officially closes on August 8th, which is just two weeks away. Because of this, new report by Bild+, Bayern Munich’s front office intends to determine a deadline for a final decision on Manchester City’s Leroy Sané, who remains the club's biggest transfer target this summer.
The news from Bild suggests that there have been “positive signs” from within Sane’s circle. Bayern, however, wants to reach an agreement with the player in time for City to invest in a replacement with the money that Bayern would pay as a transfer fee.
Of course, for Bayern and the rest of the Bundesliga, the transfer window officially remains open until Monday, September 2nd at 6pm (CET), but the Bavarians are working hard to get a transfer done. Niko Kovac emphasized the fact that the club’s front office have a clear plan, and that Sane knows exactly what to expect, should he ultimately come to Bayern:
Our front office is showing him a clear plan that has been agreed. We’re very focused and goal-oriented. Leroy knows what he can expect here. When a player with such capabilities transfers to FC Bayern, he knows his responsibilities.
Kovac also described Sane as Bayern’s “dream player,” and it is clear that the club is currently doing everything in its power to bring him to Munich. Manchester City are still in Hong Kong on the preseason tour, but will be back in England by the weekend. Bild+ reports that Bayern’s front office has given Sane’s representatives a clear, detailed, and outlined sporting plan of what his role would be with Bayern so that they can review it with him once City returns from Asia.
All of this comes just a week after City boss Pep Guardiola said he wanted only happy players at the club for the upcoming season, reiterating how much depth there is on the squad. He also made a point when asked about Sane to say that they have tried several times over the past year to get Sane to sign a new contract, but have not yet succeeded.
