If anyone was clamoring for yet another update on the laborious transfer saga surrounding Leroy Sane, an anonymous source within Manchester City’s front office seems to think that the club is not inclined to let the player walk away this summer.
The Mirror issued a report with quotes from a “City senior source” that indicates that the club is looking to extend Sane’s contract and not sell him off to Bayern Munich. In addition, the unnamed club official confirmed that the Bavarians did not offer up David Alaba as any type of incentive to get a deal done. The Mirror’s source said the following:
We are not in negotiations with Bayern over Sane. We are talking to him about a new contract and not looking to sell. We have also had no offer of Alaba. That is totally spurious and we are well stocked at left-back.
The situation seems to be getting contentious of late as both sides are eager for closure. Just a few days ago Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge asserted that Pep Guardiola does not “know if Pep knows everything that goes on at his club.”
One thing is certain, it appears that Manchester City is getting more than a little annoyed about Sane’s refusal to put an end to the speculation.
