Despite a lack of playing time, the 21-year-old is committed to breaking through into Kovac’s squad.

Earlier today, Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac expressed his desire to have midfielder Renato Sanches remain with the club for another year. While it was good to hear from Kovac on the matter, Sanches put any remaining doubt to bed when he opened his mouth to tell Bild this:

I’m ready to stay. I’ve had good conversations with the coach and [Karl-Heinz] Rummenigge. I think I’ll stay. Kovac is the coach, he makes the decisions. As long as I play I’m happy.

In terms of his playing time, he was only called upon thirteen times in the Bundesliga and once in the DFB-Pokal this past year. There’s no guarantee to how much time Kovac is going to give the Portuguese international, but one thing’s for certain: if he’s able to play with the amount of confidence and at a similar level to how he played in today’s friendly against Real Madrid, there will definitely be a spot for him in the team moving forward.
