Bayern Munich has signed a brilliant youth prospect from FC Chelsea. No, it’s not Callum Hudson-Odoi — not yet, anyway. It is sixteen-year-old “mega talent” Jamal Musiala (Bild+). Musiala has both German and British citizenship. Born in Fulda, Germany, Musiala transferred from TSV Lehnerz to Chelsea in 2011.

Musiala was nominated for England’s U-15 team at the age of 13, debuting on December 17, 2016. He plays as an attacking midfielder or striker and is among the best players at his age in Europe. Musiala has played regularly for England’s U-16 team — scoring 3 goals and assisting two in 9 matches — while he also played twice for Germany’s played twice for Germany’s national U-16 team last October.

At Bayern, Musiala will join the FC Bayern Campus and continue his development. He has signed a five-year contract and toured the grounds on Tuesday. One of the most interesting aspects of this transfer, however, is the identity of Musiala’s agent: it is Callum Hudson-Odoi’s older brother, Bradley. Chelsea turned down Bayern’s latest offer of €25 million for the injured starlet last week, and the latest report from SkySports was that Hudson-Odoi is still nowhere near signing an extension.

It is interesting to wonder whether this move away from Chelsea with its notorious youth policy might be indicative of the Hudson-Odois’ own views of the prospects for young players at the club, in light of the fact that Bradley Hudson-Odoi is the Musiala’s agent.
