Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller are fans of Fiete Arp

Fiete Arp was impressive against Arsenal and at least one important teammate has taken note of the youngster’s work ethic and performance.

Bayern Munich youngster Fiete Arp opened some eyes with his extremely solid play on Wednesday night against Arsenal during the squad’s International Champions Cup friendly. It was not just the Bayern fans, however, that came away impressed by the 19-year-old Hamburger SV transfer.

Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer liked what he saw as well and told as much to kicker. The veteran goalkeeper has liked what he has seen from the Germany youth international:

He is very alert and wants to show what he’s got immediately. Basically, he’s eager to learn. We have a different pace in training that you can’t compare with HSV. But he wants to win the duels and show what he’s got up front.

For his part, Arp has taken everything in stride and not let the massive stage that he is now on overwhelm him:

Everything already seems very big, but I’m glad that I was able to shake off the excitement on the field. It was really a lot of fun, even if it was taxing since we still can feel something in our bones after the past few days. I’m looking forward to more.

Similarly, Thomas Muller told Sport1 that Arp has left a mark on him as well.

He’s in a good physical shape, as you’d expect from a young player. It’s clear that he’s got good fundamental skills. But after a week in training with him, it’s difficult to say anything. But he did his job quite well.

If Arp can prove that he is able to rotate between striker, attacking midfield/second striker, and left wing, the 19-year-old could be a valuable and versatile player for Niko Kovac as he looks to formulate a depth chart for the upcoming season.
