Rummenigge: Bayern Munich is not planning a future with Mario Mandzukic

While it might have been a nice acquisition to add depth to the Bayern Munich attack, Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic won’t be headed back to Bavaria.

As noted in today’s Daily Schmankerl, Bayern Munich is not planning a pursuit of Juventus forward and Croatia international Mario Mandzukic. The 33-year-old had been linked to both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, but a move to either club likely will not materialize.

While Mandzukic’s future with with the Old Lady is uncertain, kicker captured a quote from Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, where he stated that Bayern will not make a move for the veteran. The full report from kicker is below:

Contrary to rumors, Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic (33) is not a topic at Bayern. “Nothing is planned to that effect,” said CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on the US tour. Mandzukic, who scored goals for Bayern from 2012 to 2014, is under contract in Turin until 2021.

The kicker report backs up the tweet by Bild’s Christian Falk that we included in today’s “Daily Schmankerl”:

Instead of a return to Germany, Mandzukic’s next stop could be in the Premier League with Everton. For all intents and purposes, this looks like one Bayern Munich transfer rumor for which we can hammer the final nail into the coffin.
