According to a report from The Mirror, Manchester City star Leroy Sane is set to receive a substantial raise from Pep Guardiola and might not be eager to leave the club per members of the club’s front office. In addition, the Citizens are still awaiting the arrival of an “official bid” from Bayern Munich, which means the Bavarians are still formulating a formal proposal to submit to Manchester City.
Interestingly, the report from Mirror journalist Simon Mullock indicated that Guardiola will not stand in the way of Sane leaving, but those around the club believe that the Germany international has no desire to leave England at this time.
City have slapped a £100 million valuation on the winger — £30 million more than Bayern president Uli Hoeness indicated they wanted to pay for the German international. Pep Guardiola will not stand in the 23-year-old’s way if he wants to leave – and Bayern meet the asking price. However, City chiefs believe Sane wants to stay with the club.
The €111 million price tag on Sane probably would not cause Bayern to bat an eye, but Mullock’s information on Sane’s potential raise, along with his assertion that those around Manchester City do not expect Sane to leave, might be an incentive to explore contingency plans if you are Bayern Munich.
(Sane) still has two years left on the £60,000-a-week deal he signed when he arrived from Schalke 04 for £37m three years ago. Now, City are ready to hike his wages towards £150,000-a-week — including bonuses.
The raise would more than double Sane’s yearly salary from €3.5 million to €8.6 million.
