Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic has been rumored to be seeking a move away from The Old Lady and Borussia Dortmund had been identified as one of the potential landing spots. Per a report from Sky Sports journalist Marc Behrenbeck, BVB is no longer in the running for the 33-year-old, but its arch-nemesis Bayern Munich could still bring back its former player.

No @BVB change: According to @SkySportDE information Mario Mandzukic will not move to Dortmund. Change @FCBayern is still a topic. There have already been concrete discussions. But the player wants to talk to Juve first. His first choice. More now in the #TransferUpdate
Juventus is expected to officially sign Ajax center-back Matthijs de Ligt to hefty contract at any moment, so perhaps losing a salary like that of Mandzukic would help soften the financial blow to club. Regardless, the Croatia international will have some contemplation to do after speaking with Juventus officials.
A move back to Bayern would not represent a guarantee of playing time with Robert Lewandowski entrenched as the starting striker, but Mandzukic’s ability to play both centrally and out-wide could help make him a very valuable commodity on the Bavarian roster, which is thin along the front line.
