De Ligt-to-Juve announcement expected on Saturday (Marca)

After a multitude of different negotiations with various clubs, it appears that Ajax center-back — and Daily Schmankerl favorite — Matthijs de Ligt is going to sign with Juventus. The move comes after months of flirting with teams like Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester United.

It is being reported in the Netherlands that Matthijs de Ligt is very close to completing his move to Juventus. The Italian club had been negotiating the fee with Ajax and, in the end, they’re expected to pay the 75 million euros that Barcelona had previously offered. This is according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, who also report that the defender could be presented by his new club as early as Saturday.

I firmly believe that De Ligt is a generational talent that will be the world’s best central defender in the coming years. Here is to hoping that Lucas Hernandez can stay healthy and that Benjamin Pavard can regain his form. Hernandez and Pavard have vast potential, so hopefully this is not a scenario for Bayern fans where they can only be left to wonder “What if?” over the next decade.

Bayern also still has Niklas Sule as well, so things aren’t all doom-and-gloom and doubt-filled thoughts in Bavaria when it comes to the central defense.

Sane rumors are still swirling (Bild)

Manchester City’s Leroy Sane will be joining his teammates in Asia for the club’s summer tour at the behest of Puma per a report from Bild. Interestingly, Pep Guardiola’s team is reportedly also unwilling to sell Sane unless it can come up with a suitable replacement. Who might be suitable you ask? Apparently, Gremio’s Everton Soares would do the trick.

Soares, of course, has been linked to Bayern Munich.

So many interconnected transfer targets! So many dominoes to fall!

Barca offers PSG three-for-one deal for Neymar (@cfbayern)

Per Sport Bild chief Christian Falk, FC Barcelona is not going to make a monetary offer for Neymar — at least not yet. Instead, Barca has offered Paris Saint-Germain any three of the following four players: Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele, Samuel Umtiti and Nelson Semedo.

PSG is in a tough spot. Neymar clearly does not want to be there anymore, but to not get any money for him would represent a bitter financial pill to swallow. Even though any combination of those players would be intriguing, to not get one single euro in return for Neymar — after spending €222 million to get him — would represent some bad business.

Also, as Falk later pointed out, the salaries of the players PSG would receive actually would total more than the club plays Neymar.

That said, it does not look as if any other team is going to be able to seriously make a run at Neymar, so PSG might want to brush up on its scouting reports of the four aforementioned players and perhaps deal with the fact it will have a higher salary structure for next season.

The cost of James is getting too high (Daily Mail)

It looks like Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti’s dream of reuniting with Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez might be hitting a roadblock due to the transfer fee demands from Los Blancos. Unwilling to do their former coach any favors, Real Madrid is pricing Napoli out of the market.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis had this to say to AS (as captured by the Daily Mail):

James is the most media-friendly player after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, he wants to play with us but Real Madrid are asking for too much.

This could be just the opening that Paris Saint-Germain needs to secure a transfer of the Colombia international — if it can sort out what they are going to do with Neymar.

Barca takes the lead on Cancelo (Inside Futbol)

FC Barcelona looks like it might be the leader in the clubhouse to sign Juventus outside-back Joao Cancelo. With Manchester City and Bayern Munich also in the mix, Barca might need to act fast.

Barcelona have moved into pole position, ahead of Manchester City and Bayern Munich, for the signature of Juventus full-back Joao Cancelo. Cancelo has been linked with a move away from the Italian champions all summer as they look to raise funds in the market and balance their books.

Manchester City have long identified the Portugal international as one of their priority targets but they have refused to meet Juventus’ €60m asking price for the full-back. Bayern Munich have also carried out checks on Cancelo this summer but they are yet to put in a concrete bid for the defender.

This is still one of the rumored transfer targets for Bayern that I just don’t get.

The raid on Frankfurt’s talent continues (Sky Sports)

The fabled “Big Three” for Eintracht Frankfurt might all be gone by the start of next season. Die Adler already lost Luka Jovic to Real Madrid and Ante Rebic is rumored to be in discussions with Atlético Madrid. Now, Eintracht Frankfurt is in danger of losing Sebastien Haller to West Ham United.

West Ham have opened talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over the transfer of striker Sebastien Haller, according to Sky sources. The Bundesliga club are believed to wan at least £40m for the 25-year-old, who scored 20 goals in all competitions last season. Haller’s representatives are ready to fly to London to discuss terms once a deal is agreed, and both sides increasingly hopeful a deal can be done.

As for Rebic, before Atlético Madrid can get anything finalized, Inter Milan is going to take at least more one run at the Croatia international if it cannot land Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku per Transfer Market Web:

While having a hard time bringing Romelu Lukaku in from Manchester United, Inter Milan management, according to Sky Sports, are still keen on Croatian international winger/forward Ante Rebic (25). Former Fiorentina and RB Leipzig player, linked to Atletico Madrid and AS Roma, is currently on a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt until June 2022. German club, which have already signed Luka Jovic away, are unlikely to let Rebic loose easily.

Jovic (27), Rebic (10), and Haller (20) combined for 57 goals across all competitions last season.

West Ham also interested in Thauvin (Transfer Market Web)

Olympique Marseille’s Florian Thauvin was linked to Bayern Munich at several points over the course of last season, but now it looks like West Ham will also take a run at the talented 26-year-old winger.

Previously linked to Bayern Munich, French international attacking midfielder/winger and Olympique Marseille star Florian Thauvin (26), according to latest UK news, has now been targeted by West Ham. PL side are offering Ligue 1 a 40 million euros cash payout, with Chicharito Hernandez on top of that.

If you come at the king, you best not miss — like this person (@matshummels)

Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has always had an incredibly strong Twitter game. Here is the latest example of Hummels’ social media excellence after a “troll attempt.”

That was obviously Medhi Benatia, not Hummels, in the video.

Doughty and Goretzka share pregame activity and great hair (@FCBayernUS)

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty talks over his soccer-related pregame activity. More importantly, Doughty and Leon Goretzka are two guys with quality hair to say the least (even if Doughty’s is covered by a Kings hat).
