Atletico Madrid defensive midfielder Rodrigo Hernandez has reportedly asked the club to give him “some space” as he ponders the offers on the table from Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

Better known as “Rodri”, the 22-year-old is a coveted transfer target for the European powers. In a report by the Daily Mail, Rodri was quoted as telling Atletico Madrid that he needed some time to think over what the best move is for his career:

I’ve asked the club for some peace, for them to give me some space. It would be hypocritical to say I can ensure anything. The only thing I can say is that I have a contract with Atlético Madrid, I have a clause, I have conditions and I’m happy here. I can’t say anything else because I don’t know what is going on.

The talented midfielder has a €70 million release clause that the Bavarians or Citizens would have to pay should either convince the player to leave Atletico Madrid.

Interestingly, the Daily Mail also dropped this note regarding another Bayern target, Leroy Sane.

City, meanwhile, do not expect Leroy Sane to demand a move to Bayern Munich this summer and remain hopeful he will sign a long-term deal. Bayern have yet to make an official offer saying they are reluctant to meet City’s valuation.

The sources for the Daily Mail apparently are closer to what Christian Falk is saying as compared to Fabrizio Romano. Regardless, we definitely know some discussions have taken place.
