At the beginning of this month, it was reported that Bayern have backed away from their pursuit of De Ligt, as the club wanted to keep their focus on other priorities. The signing of Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez has given the German Champions a little relief regarding the defense and the front office have set their attention on securing wingers to strengthen the roster. Although that is the case, the defender was present in almost half of the transfer rumors surrounding the Bavarians until a particular video of Cristiano Ronaldo and De Ligt started circulating on social media with facetious captions.
Along with Bayern, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain were also in the race for the defender but neither of them could proceed further with the negotiations.
Another player is off the table as things are getting closer to being official back in Turin.
