Hamburger SV will remain in the 2.Bundesliga after a disappointing finish to its season finish. The club has already begun to make changes before they go into the new season, above all appointing former Borussia Mönchengladbach manager Dieter Hecking. As per Bild, Tobias Schweinsteiger will be given the role of being the assistant manager for Hecking.

Hecking’s first right-hand man will be Dirk Bremser, so Tobias will be his second assistant. It is speculated that Tobias could begin working on Thursday.

For those who do not know, Tobias is the older brother from Bastian Schweinsteiger. The 37-year-old Tobias used to play for VfB Lübeck, SpVgg Unterhaching, and most famously (for us Bayern Munich fans) — for Bayern Munich II. After he ended his career he was named assistant coach for FCB II. They parted ways in 2018 after the club preferred Miroslav Klose over him, and he subsequently accepted a position for a second division side FC Juniors OÖ in Austria. Schweinsteiger’s contract with the Juniors actually ran until 2023. But because there were changes in the coaching staff, he was able to dissolve his contract ahead of time and accept a new job.

It will be interesting to see what the future will hold for Tobias, but a lot is expected from him and from HSV next season!
