USWNT stifled Chile in a 3-0 victory
[Update: 1:50PM EST]: It’s all over. The United States downed Chile 3-0 in a dominant showing.
[Update: 12:41PM EST]: Carli Lloyd is having herself a game, scoring the opening goal against Chile in the 11th minute and following that with a header off a corner-kick in the 35th. Julie Ertz scored in the 26th minute in the meantime.
Only two Americans have scored more #FIFAWWC goals than Carli Lloyd: Abby Wambach (14) and Michelle Akers (12). Her header makes it 3-0 and gives her 10 goals on this stage

Sweden hammered Thailand 5-0
[Full time] It’s another hammering for poor Thailand, this time at the hands of Sweden. Four goals and a penalty in the 6th minute of stoppage time meant more pain for Thailand.
[Update: 10:15AM EST]: Fridolina Rolfö, who is leaving Bayern Munich for VfL Wolfsburg this summer, added another goal for Sweden to extend her squad’s lead to 3-0.
Sheesh!

[Update: 9:10AM EST]: Sweden’s Linda Sembrant gave her team an early 1-0 lead with a goal in the 6th minute. This could be another long match for Thailand.

It’s the final round of games in matchday two of the group stage. It’s also another day where the reigning and defending three time world champions United States are in action. They face Chile, and in the other game, Sweden takes on Thailand.
A win by Sweden here over Thailand puts them through to the knockout round, and let’s be honest... they should roll over Thailand. However. HOWEVER! Crazier things have happened in this sport, and Thailand pushed Australia to the limits in World Cup qualifying. It’s possible.
Woo, buddy. That opening round game between the United States and Thailand got ugly. The Americans put thirteen goals past the Thailand goalkeeper and are probably going to try to do the same thing to Chile. It doesn’t look like this game will end any other way than the Americans standing on top.
