Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt is one of the most sought-after players in the transfer market and has high-powered clubs like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Manchester United all clamoring to find way to bring in the phenom.

Possessing size, pace, vision, technical skill, and physicality, De Ligt is the type of player who can impact European pay for years to come. There is at least one team, however, that will apparently no longer have a chance to bring in the Netherlands international: Manchester United.

The Daily Star claims to have spoken to a “source close to De Ligt”, who stated why Manchester United is no longer under consideration by the 19-year-old center back.

Matthijs is going to become the best defender in the world. He will have the choice to join whoever he wants, but he has no interest in going to United. They are not the attractive proposition they once were. He knows he is in a strong bargaining position because his stock has risen so fast. He’s one of the most in demand stars on the planet.

Also, according to the Daily Star, De Ligt “favors a move to either Barca or Real Madrid when he decides to leave Ajax. Barca have distanced themselves from signing De Ligt, but refused to deny their interest in him.”

While Bayern is not listed among potential destinations by the Daily Star’s source, the Bavarians are still thought to be in the running to procure the young talent.
