KIT LEAK: Bayern Munich’s 2019/2020 home kit

We’ve all been waiting for this one. Spoiler: it’s red.

The moment has finally arrived. Footy Headlines has leaked preliminary images of Bayern Munich’s home kit for the 2019/2020 season. As is usually the case, Bayern will probably sport these kits at least once or twice before the season officially ends, most likely during their last home match at the Allianz Arena against Eintracht Frankfurt and perhaps even in the DFB-Pokal final against RB Leipzig.

Over the past two months, we’ve already seen a glimpse of Bayern’s retro, special-edition long-sleeve kit, their potential third kit for next season, and the pre-match top for next season, but the home kit is what everyone’s been waiting for.

Let’s have a look at the front and back of the jersey:

Disclaimer: The blue shorts are almost certainly not part of the full home outfit — they’re just modeled here in these two photos. Footy Headlines claims that the jersey will be accompanied by red shorts and red socks, as in the mock-up below (sigh of relief):

There’s quite a lot to digest here, but for starters, at least the jersey is red and white with the traditional Bavarian colors and 4 stars on the team badge on the left breast. With a solid base of red with white Adidas and T-Mobile logos on the front and FC Bayern München on the back with Mia San Mia just above it, the color seems to be a slightly brighter red than we’re used to. It’s almost as if it’s a cross between all shades of red from the 2015/2016, 2016/2017, and 2017/2018’s kits. In this season’s home kit, we saw darker shades of contrasting reds in diamond-shaped, zig-zag patterns throughout the front.

In the 2019/2020 kit, the front of the jersey features what honestly looks like a contrasting pattern of lighter shades of red that reminds me of the disintegration, pixelization effect that was popularized by Avengers: Infinity War. The way in which the dissolving patterns are oriented gives the appearance of diagonal lines that run upward from left to right across the front of the jersey, which almost gives off a look of a red, brick wall of sorts. (Anyone? Yes?...No?).

Upon closer inspection the sleeve cuffs and collar ring closely follow the pattern of Bayern’s third “Parley” kit from this season. The collar ring matches the darker shades of red that comprise the base of the jersey, while the sleeve cuffs match the lighter shades of red that are found in the disintegration pattern throughout the kit. The sleeves themselves match the darker red of the base. Also, the shoulders each contain three lighter red stripes that run from the base of the collar ring to the top seam of the sleeves. Lastly, the sleeve patches are rounded out by the Qatar Airways and hopefully a white and gold Deutscher Fussballmeister 2018/2019 patch.
