Report: Bayern Munich dressing room looking forward to Leroy Sané, but club president expresses doubts

Even the players who would be competing with Sané for match time are eager to see the Man City star swap blue for red.

According to a new report by Sport Bild, Bayern Munich fans aren’t the only ones exited by the prospect of Leroy Sane joining the club. The Manchester City winger is regarded positively by players in the dressing room, even though it is said that his attitude leaves some room for improvement.

Even the two players who would be most affected by his arrival — Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, are on board with the move. While Sané’s arrival would inevitably increase the competition for minutes on the wing, the current duo realize that a high-level winger must come for Bayern Munich to achieve its goals.

This checks out with what we’ve heard in the media, and Robert Lewandowski and Alphonso Davies have openly praised Sané in interviews. Sport Bild’s reporting doesn’t seem far-fetched.

Hold on, there’s more

Of course, a Sané article wouldn’t be complete without some pessimism regarding the transfer. Uli Hoeness poured some cold water on the rumors by saying this:

I don’t have the exact numbers yet but the financial aspect will be critical. The whole package is difficult.

A player like Leroy Sané is certainly guaranteed to be expensive, and it’s not out of the question that City might price Bayern out of a deal. While Pep Guardiola is the coach there and he’s a friend of Bayern, he’s not the one in charge of negotiations.

At the very least, we can be sure that Sané will either end up at Bayern or stay at City next summer. The Citizens will not sell to any Premier League rivals, and other European clubs are apparently not interested because they’re well stocked on the wings. At least that’s good to hear.
