As the summer transfer window approaches, it looks like it’s not just the fans who are eagerly awaiting new signings. In an interview with the media, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski gave his take on the upcoming transfer window, while heaping praise on Manchester City star Leroy Sane (Bild, kicker). The young German has been linked with a transfer to Munich in recent weeks.
Here’s what Lewandowski had to say about Sane and what he might bring to the table. Is Sané a player who could make Bayern better, Lewandowski was asked:
Yes, definitely. That’s a super player with great qualities and great potential. I’ve already seen many times how good he is. That’s a player who can immediately take us higher, who improves the team.
As for incoming transfers in general, the Polish hitman was unequivocal — Bayern must buy players who are ready to contribute.
If someone comes, he has to help us immediately, make us better with his quality. You don’t have any time here to develop someone for two years. From the very first matchday, you have to raise the quality of the whole team.
On the subject of the upcoming transfer window, Lewy made it clear that there was more work to be done.
The transfer window hasn’t even opened yet and we already have two players — I know there’s still more to come. That’s certain. Bayern has not yet said the final word with respect to transfers.
The coming few months promise to be an exciting time for fans of Bayern Munich, as the Bavarians look to undertake their biggest rebuilding project in recent memory. Replacements are needed, quality must be added. However, Lewandowski seems certain that the club will be up to the task.
