Jerome Boateng’s future with Bayern Munich is cloudy at best. As we covered here, Süddeutsche Zeitung have reported that Boateng “will leave Bayern this summer,” a widely expected move. Where Boateng will go, however, remains up for debate.
Bild+ (paywall) released a story today (cf. Football Italia) stating that Inter Milan was ready to submit a bid for the 30-year-old center back. Bild says,
According to Bild’s information, Inter Milan in particular has shown great interest in Boateng. Bayern will probably not let him go, however, for much less than €20m — as of now.
Sky Sport, however, disputes the report, saying it is “not a topic at the moment!” They write,
Inter Milan allegedly has great interest in signing Jerome Boateng. That at least is what Bild reports. According to Sky Sport’s information, however, this report is wrong.
Sources close to Boateng explain that the national player is not engaged in talks with any other club and there has been no contact with Inter Milan. The World Champion wants to think about his future after the Pokal final and even staying in Munich is conceivable.
The 30-year-old’s contract with FC Bayern runs until 2021.
While Boateng did not feature much in the second half of the season, he performed admirably when called up. His value at €20m could be a great deal for a club in need of an experienced and steady defender.
