Hamburger SV youngster Jann-Fiete Arp has confirmed that he will be switching to Bayern Munich next season via Instagram. The decision comes after Arp scored in HSV’s 3-0 win over MSV Duisberg in the final game of the 2.Bundesliga season. The German youngster went on Instagram to announce his decision to his followers:
Dear HSV family,
After nine years, it’s time to say goodbye. Today, along with the last few weeks and the whole season epitomiyes my time in this big club. We have celebrated, we have suffered, laughed and cried... but above all one thing: we always found a way to stand up to all the blathering and say “HSV anyway.” That’s also what made me want to spend 9 years here and share my emotions with you almost every second, because I always knew that everyone feels the same way I did. Stay strong HSVers, this club will always stay special and “even if the times are often hard,” success will find its way back to Hamburg. Make sure that every player, every staff member and every tourist who enters our grounds is carried away by your love, every soul continues to show how awesome this club is.
I will miss every single one in this club and I am more than proud to have been a part of HSV over the past 9 years. Of course the next enormous challenge is waiting for me, but I will always be a part of you, just as you will always be a part of me.
I hope to FC Bayern Munich strengthened by the enormous love you have given me so that I can show that Hamburg boys can also convince and succeed even at the biggest [clubs].
I can only say thank you, thank you for everything, thank you for the training, for opening the door to the pro-area, for the enormous support & above all thank you for your love.
I am sorry not to have given you the gift for which I extended my time here & I am sorry not to have given you more. I wish the HSV a rosy future, promotion in the coming season and above all to be again a club that stands for the things that have always made it special!
In Hamburg they say goodbye, on a soon reunion... Hummel Hummel Mors Mors ⚓️
The transfer agreement between Bayern and Hamburger SV left Arp the option to make his move in the summer of 2019 or 2020, but now we know the 19-year-old is headed to the proving grounds of Säbener Strasse this summer, where he has a big task ahead of him.
Because of the overpowering presence of Robert Lewandowski, it’s unlikely that Arp will remain at his new club for very long. A young striker like him needs minutes, so it’s likely that he will be loaned out to a Bundesliga club to gather experience. Hoffenheim seem like the best bet — while they’ve lost Julian Nagelsmann, they should still appreciate a young, talented striker like Arp in their ranks for next season.
Arp made 27 appearance across competitions for Hamburger SV this season and accumulated five goals and three assists. Arp is considered a technically sound striker with good vision and creativity. In many ways, he plays a similar style to Lewandowski, which might bode well for the player if he can continue to develop and refine his game.
Standing at 6-foot-2, Arp is a big target, but he will likely focus on bulking up his slender 172-pound frame to become a more physical presence in the box.
