Bayern Munich have clinched their 28th Bundesliga title on Saturday with the 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. Borussia Dortmund finishes in second place, 2 points behind Bayern. This was the first time since 2009 that the Meisterschale wasn’t clinched until the final matchday.

Bayern trailed Dortmund by as many as nine points this season, but after a resurgence in the spring, Bayern took the lead for good after beating Dortmund at the Allianz Arena in April.

This is Franck Ribery’s ninth Meisterschale, making him the most successful player in Bundesliga history. This puts a nice cherry on top of the Frenchman’s illustrious career at Bayern.

Virtually only needing a draw. Bayern took the lead in the fourth minute. The 1-0 lead was taken into halftime. But Frankfurt equalized shortly after the break. With Dortmund leading their match, Frankfurt needed only one more goal to win the championship for Dortmund. However, Bayern took control and never looked back. Goals from David Alaba, Renato Sanchez, Franck Ribery, and Arjen Robben put the game out of reach for Frankfurt and the title out of reach for BVB Dortmund.
