Kovac brought out his inner-authoritarian by punishing his bench players. Unsurprisingly, it wasn’t received with enthusiasm by the Bayern team.

After yesterday’s disappointing result in the Fränkisch-Bayerisches Derby, Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac tormented his players in today’s training with sprints over the entire pitch with very short breaks. The reason for this tough treatment was the fact that Kovac felt that the reserve players did not warm-up properly yesterday.

According to Bild, Kovac made Rafinha, Corentin Tolisso, Franck Ribery, Renato Sanches, Joshua Zirkzee, and Alphonso Davies run across the pitch with sprints over 15 meters with full speed three times back-and-forth. Fitness coach, Holger Broich measured out the running course with a surveyor’s wheel while the Berlin native coach monitored the team with a stopwatch and whistle.

The result? Davies and Ribery ended up leaning on the training fence after the short sprints and Sanches used the golf-cart as support.

Fun news after a game where Bayern looked somewhat over-confident. The fact that Kovac punishes the team after a poor warm-up, suggests that he has a ‘no-nonsense’ attitude which is encouraging when dealing with the FC Hollywood divas.
