How will Bayern Munich line up against Nurnberg?

Could Alphonso Davies and/or Renato Sanches get a start?

Welp, who expected that result in the Revierderby? Now that Borussia Dortmund have actually lost, Bayern Munich have a huge chance to go four points clear at the top of the table. Niko Kovac will not want to let this chance slip through his fingers.

Team News

Bayern have a slew of injuries this week. Arjen Robben is still working on his comeback, but he will probably sit this one out. Jerome Boateng suffered a knee bruise in training, and will definitely miss the game. Franck Ribery is still suffering from muscular problems, and Manuel Neuer is still recovering from his calf injury.

That being said, expect very few changes in Niko Kovac’s lineup. With the margins for the title being razor thin, the team cannot afford dropped points against Nurnberg. This would’ve been a great opportunity for Alphonso Davies to get his first Bundesliga start, but the coach will probably stick with a tried and tested front four of Kingsley Coman, Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, and Serge Gnabry. Davies has it tough, even James Rodriguez can’t break into the lineup at the moment.

It’s the same story in midfield. While some might like to see Renato Sanches get a run, it’s more likely that Niko Kovac will pair Thiago Alcantara with Leon Goretzka or Javi Martinez, with the latter being the more likely. Corentin Tolisso could be an option from the bench.

In defense, with Jerome Boateng out, it’s going to be a backline of David Alaba, Mats Hummels, Niklas Sule, and Joshua Kimmich. Sven Ulreich will be between the posts, due to Neuer’s absence.

Here’s how we think Bayern will line up against Nurnberg tomorrow:
