Citing a story by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, InsideFutbol.com is reporting that AS Roma has rejected a bid by Bayern Munich for midfield phenom Nicolo Zaniolo.

The report states that Bayern submitted an offer to Roma worth €45m plus bonuses, but it was turned down by the Giallorossi. The report also notes that Bayern is far from the only team in pursuit of Zaniolo. Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, Chelsea, and Arsenal are all keeping tabs on the talented 19-year-old.

Bayern Munich have failed with an offer for Tottenham Hotspur target Nicolo Zaniolo, as Roma continue to be unconvinced over selling their midfield jewel. Zaniolo has taken big steps forward with his progress over the course of the season, after joining Roma from Italian rivals Inter last summer. But Roma are yet to be convinced over selling Zaniolo and in a sign of the Giallorossi’s thinking they have now rejected a proposal from Bayern Munich. The German giants offered Roma a fee of €45m plus bonuses, but it has been turned down, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

Roma still immensely values Zaniolo and thinks the youngster could be a talent which it can build around. Instead of a sale, Roma may be more likely to try and extend the contract of its young star.

Roma still see Zaniolo as the man they want as the cornerstone of their side in the 2019/20 campaign. And they have been in talks with him over a new contract.

BFW Analysis

The rumors have been swirling regarding Bayern’s interest in the talented Italian, but despite his apparent talent, Zaniolo is not exactly playing a position that Bayern needs filled immediately.

As an attacking midfielder, Zaniolo might struggle for consistent field time in Bavaria. While the price for such a young star could ultimately be reasonable, it might be better for his own development that Zaniolo continues to gain experience in an environment where he can be regular starter and featured member of the squad. At least for next season, that would appear to be unlikely to happen in Munich.
