Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac addressed the team’s injury situation during his press conference this morning and there was some good news and some puzzling news heading into the DFB-Pokal match against Werder Bremen on Wednesday.
Mats Hummels and James Rodriguez are back in team training and “available” according to Kovac, while David Alaba training individually.
Mats Hummels and James Rodriguez have been back on the training pitch today and look okay. David Alaba worked individually in the fitness center.
Kovac did not provide any further details on why Alaba trained individually, but the Austria international is expected to be ready for Wednesday. Should the 26-year-old left back ultimately need to miss the game, Rafinha would likely be called into action.
In addition, Kovac provided an update on Arjen Robben. Kovac was still guardedly optimistic about the status of the legendary winger.
I had a chat with Arjen Robben today and he’s feeling better and sounds more optimistic. I don’t want to make things sound better than they are, but it was nice to hear it from him.
Robben is working hard to make at least one more appearance for the club before be exits this summer.
