Ready for silly season? The Daily Star has recently reported that Bayern has joined the race to sign Spurs star midfielder, Christian Eriksen. The Danish international, who has yet to commit his future to the North London club, has enjoyed yet another good season in the Premier League.

If true, Bayern would have to compete against footballing giants Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester United. The Daily Star article mentions that Eriksen’s preferred destination is Spain but that his transfer depends on whether Pogba will stay at United or leave for Zidane’s Real Madrid.

Bayern has now apparently realized they’ve got a good chance of signing the Funen native.

BFW Analysis

The current Bayern squad has currently three players that can play as a central attacking midfielder: James Rodriguez, Thomas Muller, and Leon Goretzka. If, and that is a big if, this rumor was true that would most likely signal the end of James Rodriguez career at Bayern.

Also, do we need another central/offensive midfielder? As of right now, it would make more sense to try and spend money on replacements for Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. Although, Muller can always go on the wing and the prospect of Eriksen in a red/white shirt just sounds right, doesn’t it?

Eriksen’s stats over the last three years in the Premier League:

18/19 (so far) – 6 goals and 12 assists in 30 games

17/18 – 10 goals and 11 assists in 37 games

16/17 – 8 goals and 15 assists in 36 games

Unlike Benjamin Pavard, Lucas Hernandez and the potential signings of Timo Werner, Nicolas Pepe or Callum Hudson-Odoi, if Bayern bought Eriksen they would not buy a talent but a world-class player. Eriksen is 27 years old and has maybe three or four years left of his prime. The fact that he is out of contract a year this summer, suggests that there is a real possibility he will leave Spurs. Could Bayern be his next destination?
