Manuel Neuer angers Adidas!

Adidas did not appreciate that Bayern’s keeper did not stick to his contract.

Manuel Neuer was injured in the game against Dusseldorf and will be sidelined for two weeks. It’s enough that Bayern Munich’s goalkeeper has to worry about missing some crucial games, he also has to worry about a pullover! Yes, you have read it correctly — a pullover.

The Bayern goalkeeper spoke at a press conference for 18 minutes about his injury, the comeback plans, and his replacement, Sven Ulreich. Everything would have gone smoothly if only he wore the right pullover.

Neuer wore a hoodie from the US sports brand “Champion” from a special edition with the luxury label “Off White”, which costs about 500 euros. (Hopefully not another golden steak farce in the making). Bayern and Neuer have an equipment contract with Adidas, which the brand pays the club around 25 million euros annually. Company spokesman Oliver Brüggen told to BILD:

As a contract player of Adidas and as a player of FC Bayern Manuel Neuer is encouraged to wear Adidas products. The specific case of the press conference will be discussed with the club and the players.

This is not the first time that Bayern faces problems with Adidas over a player’s clothing. A similar situation occurred with Mario Gotze in 2013, when he appeared at the official presentation in a t-shirt of his private sponsor Nike. Ultimately, Gotze was fined and it is probable that Neuer will face similar consequences.
