Laugh of the day: Manchester United want Niklas Süle from Bayern Munich

Nothing is funnier than United being linked to Bayern Munich players they can never get.

According to a report by Sport1.de, Manchester United are interested in signing Bayern Munich center back Niklas Süle. The 23-year-old has been deemed suitable for the Premier League, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to bring him to England.

Never mind that Chelsea already tried and failed to do that in 2017, or that Süle is Bayern’s main center-back and under contract until 2022. To be fair, United have had a lot of success in pursuing Bayern defenders in the recent past, such as last year when they got Jerome Boateng to personally call Jose Mourinho and tell them that he wasn’t interested.

It’s true that Süle would probably be a good fit for the EPL, because he’s pretty fast and larger than the average aircraft carrier. However, a move to England wouldn’t suit his career trajectory at all, since it clearly lies with Bayern and Die Mannschaft. Along with Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard, Sule is set to lead the Bayern defense for the coming decade.

This rumor is just another symptom of silly season, I guess. If Manchester United are interested in another Bayern center-back, then maybe Jerome Boateng might be available. They should talk to him instead.
